Herb Ohta Jr. Wins Na Hoku Hanohano Award for Best Ukulele Album of the Year
Herb Ohta, Jr. has received Ukulele Album of the Year by the Hawai‘i Academy of Recording Arts’ Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, which were presented on Saturday, May 24.
Ohta Jr. has been playing ukulele for more than two decades, continuing the tradition of his virtuoso father, Herb “Ohta-san” Ohta. On his 2013 album Pure ‘Ukulele, which won the Hoku, Ohta Jr. strips down his music to just a solo ukulele. Watch him perform a song from the album, “Magic Castle.”
