Watch George Harrison Perform ‘Ain’t She Sweet’ on Ukulele
“Everyone I know who is into the ukulele is ‘crackers,'” writes George Harrison in the below letter (courtesy of openculture.com). George wisely opines, “you can’t play it and not laugh!” So today, in honor of World Play Your Ukulele Day (Feb. 2), let’s get inspired by George and strum along to “Ain’t She Sweet,” a clip from the Beatles’ Anthology documentary.
The Facebook fan page Love from George is celebrating World Play Your Ukulele Day by posting quotes about George, including this one from longtime friend and collaborator Jeff Lynne (of Electric Light Orchestra fame):

“Near the very end, as he was slipping away, I’d sit beside him and play some ukulele very quietly. He’d wake and smile . . . I half expected him to tell me I was doing it wrong. George was passionate about the ukulele. He played it brilliantly, studied it, and collected hundreds of vintage instruments. There’s not much you can do with a ukulele that doesn’t sound happy. I think that’s why he liked it.”
