Journey’s Handsome New J-Uke “Scoopaway” from Summer NAMM 2016

Journey instruments introduced a new “scoopaway” concert ukulele at the Summer NAMM show in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Journey J-uke UC770C is made from meranti, a Southeast Asian wood also known as Philippine mahogany. The top is solid meranti, with laminated meranti back and sides, with a satin finish. There’s also that scoopaway, made from rosewood, that makes it easier to hit higher notes. The mahogany neck has a rosewood fingerboard, with rosewood also used for the bridge, rosette, and body binding.
