Who would have ever thought that four lads from rainy Liverpool, England, would one day become the most widely covered group by ukulele players? But that’s the case. Go to almost any uke gathering, and it usually won’t be long before somebody breaks out a Beatles tune… or five!
Here’s a lovely version of the Paul McCartney “White Album” (1968) number “Blackbird,” long a favorite of both guitarists and uke players, played by SF Bay Area-based performer/teacher Cynthia Lyn. The track appears on her 2017 release, Ukulele Days, which also includes versions of “Here Comes the Sun” and “Here, There and Everywhere.” —Blair Jackson
