Ukulele Sessions: Sylvie Simmons Performs the Leonard Cohen Classic ‘Suzanne’
“First law of music journalism: Do not make an album. And on top of it, I play a ukulele,” Leonard Cohen biographer and esteemed rock journalist Sylvie Simmons joked in an interview with Ukulele following the release of her exquisite debut album, Sylvie.
Watch Simmons perform the Cohen classic “Suzanne,” and her originals “Moon Over Chinatown” and “You Are in My Arms” — a song Hawaiian slack-key guitarist and ukulele player Keoki Kahumoku has been known to cover.
Read more about Simmons in this article from our Summer 2015 issue. Plus, look out for a feature in the Winter 2020 issue, where Simmons discusses bouncing back from injury with her brilliant second album, Blue on Blue.
