The star of the latest video from ukulele superstar Jake Shimabukuro is none other than Madame Pele, the fire goddess who is credited with creating the Hawaiian islands. She takes a lead role in the new video that syncs up footage of the lava flow from Kilauea with a track from Jake’s forthcoming album, Nashville Sessions.

The massive volcano, located on the southeastern end of the island of Hawaii, has been erupting continuously since 1983, and recently, it has had a big uptick in activity. The dramatic eruption, which recently began pouring into the ocean and garnered considerable media attention, makes for a fantastic partner for the groove-heavy track.

Featuring a trio of Jake with bass and drums, “6/8” is a groove-based piece from Jake’s forthcoming album, set to debut September 23.
