The ukulele playing will be smoking, but the money raised will help put out fires.

The San Diego Ukulele Festival, which kicks off on Saturday, June 6, has announced that it will donate proceeds to the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation. That’s great news for an area that is suffering from historic drought.

“We are honored to be the beneficiary of this fun event,” Wendy Robinson, executive director of San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, said in a press release. “As we enter the driest fire season in decades, it’s even more important to make sure our first responders have the resources they need to protect our homes, businesses, and families.”

On the bill at this year’s festival are Sarah Maisel, Craig Chee, Heidi Swedberg, Daniel Ward, Brandon Cruz, Ukulenny, Jason Arimoto, Taimane Gardner and more. For tickets, check out the event website.
