Learn the Ukulele Click Stroke with Gerald Ross

In this video lesson Gerald Ross teaches you how to get a rhythmic, clicking, snare drum–type sound on your ukulele with the click stroke. Ross, who is profiled in the Winter 2021 issue of Ukulele magazine, has been exploring the sonic possibilities of the uke (and teaching his findings) for many years.

The click stroke is a variation on clawhammer banjo-style playing that can be used to keep the beat while playing solo or with a group. Be sure to strum in the sweet spot, where the neck of your uke meets the body.
